Introduction
The Mayor of Lambeth is elected each year at the Annual Meeting of the council.
The Mayor is the first citizen of the London Borough of Lambeth and has several
specific roles to play for the authority during their term of office, including
chairing full Meetings of the Council. From April 1st 2009 - May 2010 the
Mayor will be Councillor Christopher Wellbelove.
Lambeth is perhaps unusual in that since 1994 the Mayor has been elected unanimously
by fellow councillors, with each of the political parties supplying a candidate
in rotation. This underlines the apolitical nature of the Mayor's role and
enables them to represent all the citizens of the borough.
To help keep you informed of the Mayors activities he will be using social
networking sites such as Facebook
and Twitter.
